The Importance Of Being Remarkable In Marketing.

First of all I have to apologize from my readers for not writing as regularly as I should.

I have been busy with my new web site and still have lot of work to do. I will share it’s progress step by step once it is launched. It is an affiliate promoting web site and you will be able to witness its growth and hopefully copy down the marketing strategies I am using for your own success.

When talking about Marketing, one person I cannot forget is Seth Godin. Be it online marketing, be it offline marketing; he is a genius. Recently I stumbled upon a great video that I could not resist sharing with you. Some call this as “seth godin’s purple cow video“.

I can guarantee it will add value to the way you think and your approach to marketing.

What do you think? What is more important; the product it self or marketing? For me, if product is the king, Marketing is the queen. And as Seth Godin says, the unique approaches will always win. No body wants to see a cow, but a purple cow will get everyone’s attention.

You can catch him on seth’s blog. One of the few top blogs which carries the authors name as a brand name. John chow is the other one which comes to my mind. Do you think having your personal name as your blog brand is good? Do not hesitate to share your ideas and get a PR3 link back to your site.

Personnel name as your brand name is not a good idea , Even John Chow has mentioned in one of his posts that if he was to start from the beginning again he would choose a better domain name. It is always good to have the key words you are targeting to be on the domain name. If I were to start from the beginning I also would have chosen better domain name.

Lot of talk about this over past few weeks – Personal is best! But then again I would say that :)

Loved the Seth Godin Video – Thanks for sharing…

@ Nishadha
Personal name is good if you are super famous and already have a established name. Otherwise keyword rich domains are the way to go. Even though mine is not a personal name I regret using it. This was supposed to be a hosting site for Sri Lankans. :-)

@ Sean,
Glad You liked it. :-)

Nice video…anyway in the times of terrorist attacks in India is there a way to push public private partnership in technology spending for security? Sometimes the benefits arent monetary but still immense.

You mentioned the new website you’ve been working on — what is it? I’m curious about your projects.

That site is still under construction. But if you want to see an affiliate web site which made $200 even at the construction stage,
here you go…
http://www.startforextrading.org
Already indexed and already proven to be a fortune maker. Site went live 3 days ago. But not officially launched yet because still there are lot of work to do.

I will share it’s story step by step here in my blog.

i’ve always thought that marketing is more or less like psychology. But i think that it’s better to produce what have success in the market, than to try to sell what has been produced; i mean, answering your question, that products themselves are more important than marketing, but marketing has to be studied before produce anything if you want to sell your product and have success.
i don’t know if i explain it correcty… i am not very good with English. But thank you for sharing the info, it’s always intereesting!
