Getting Your First Google cheque is not difficult at all.

First of all I must apologize for not writing enough or be activated in social networks as I used to be. I have had some personal issues to be dealt with so didn’t have much time to put in to this blog. Things are great now and “antharjalaya” is back on track and will be better than ever.

Thank you for the 81 concerning emails I received from readers while I was going through the bad patch. Well, I replied to all of them personally before writing this post and I am glad that at least 81 people have a genuine interest about the work I do. ( Monthly visitor count reads 8000-15000)

I have seen lot of sri lankans have created sites targeting Google adsense recently. I have to admit, it is nice to see so many people are getting encouraged and have actually started putting some instructions in to action.

Many have emailed me with their sites to have a look and get my opinion. Sorry to disappoint most of you, honestly, I don’t think even 25 % of these sites will ever meet the Google’s minimum payout of $100.

First of all, it is not 1990’s when almost all the web sites had the potential to make some money. Times have changed now. If you are still using 10-15 year old tricks to earn your next buck, chances are , you will not make any.

Now days you cannot cheat people to click ads. They can very well differentiate advertisements from actual content. If you are still using “Joel Comm’s adsense secretes guide” it is high time you realize that those were written for a different internet Era. But that is a great guide if you are looking for basic adsense knowledge. Just by pasting some PLR articles and putting up ad sense units will not bring you anything. So you have to act smart.

Create a web site for a niche which you have a genuine interest about. You can start from there and then move on with new sites. At the beginning of this post I have posted a Google cheque received by my girl friend recently.

She works full time at an investment company and still reading for her BBA . So the time available for her is very limited. That is why I asked her to build a site covering a niche which she loves. It is not much, but the important thing is she managed to receive the Google cheque in the first month it self. This month, things are going even better. That is the beauty of engage in something you love.

If you are writing about credit cards, boring financial articles , or anything just because the key words pays well and if the web site is nothing but some articles copied from article sites, how are you going to expect that people will come and click your ads? They can smell when you are trying to cheat them for a buck or too.

So try to give some value to the readers. And create a web site which you can show around proudly. If you can appreciate the work you do, other people will do the same. They may or may not click your ads. But there is something called good karma. If you have put in enough hard work for the project you are bound to get a pay back. In this case, a nice cheque from Google.

Very inspiring read. My Adsense account has reached almost 200$, but I still have to request my first payment…I want it to be HUGE (I’m aiming at at least 1000$ payout)! :)

eranda Posted on January 30, 2009 at 5:11 am

@emule,
With adsense i do not think that you have to make a withdrwal request.

Please don’t wait to do it when u cross 100, we don’t know when they are gona block it.. We can earn good using this and I am making for my lunch using these blogs

eranda Posted on February 2, 2009 at 4:50 pm

@ markcijo
May be u don’t have a clear understanding about how adsense works. You never have to ask for a withdrawal..if you are eligible for a payment they will be sending it.

You will be more happy when you see your own cheques :-)

I have to say that I have heard of people getting paid from Google but I was just always setting back wondering if they were telling the truth or not. Your check has gave me inspiration that it does pay off to use adverts and such to bring in a bit of extra income home. So how are you doing still with this are you finding it easier to keep bringing checks of that size home? To me big or little every cent counts! Thanks for boosting up my spirits!

I agree with you with regards to providing information that will make your readers read and come back for more. Surfers are wiser now and we should provide things that they deserve. Actually you can see if you have an information that does not appeal to readers and that is through Google Analytics. One indicator is: higher bounce rate means that your content has lower readability and less visitor staying power.

Shimano Fishing Posted on February 8, 2009 at 10:39 pm

Best advise in there: “So try to give some value to the readers”. When you actually contribute content of some value, everything changes. Which is why it’s best to stay within products/niches that you actually know about–so you can truly contribute something new. Well written…

eranda Posted on February 9, 2009 at 3:14 pm

@ blogging 4 dollars
This is the whole purpose of this site. To inspire people. I am glad I could boost your confidence.

Number plates Posted on February 10, 2009 at 5:38 pm

I didn’t even know Google issued cheques for online advertising, that’s like a proper pay and much nicer than transferring straight to your paypal account. Most of the advise I have read lately seems to say to target niche markets is that because of the amount of competition already around for the bigger keywords.

JohnTimber Posted on February 11, 2009 at 9:41 am

Glad you’re back in action.

Adsense is still a valid form of monetization–if you are driving enough traffic to the sites about the right topics. And those monthly checks are always a welcome sight, right?

Thank you all for the well wishes and nice comments. If you run adsense in your sites, I wish you all will be able to get a handsome cheque at the end of every month. For this month I just passed the $300 mark for the first time. :D

Mayooresan Posted on February 14, 2009 at 12:13 pm

I suppose to receive my Google check before two and half month but still I have not received it. Though I asked for a re-issue other than a automated reply nothing else is there…

Google has gone nut and became arrogant with itz monopoly movement.

eranda Posted on February 14, 2009 at 12:27 pm

@ Mayooresan
This is the first time I hear something like this. Have you received Google cheques prior to this or is this your first time?

Iowan Freelance Writer Posted on February 15, 2009 at 10:45 am

Good point on the Adsense. I’m not a guru by any means, but even messing around and without a good grasp of SEO, it only took me three months to get a check from Google, and that was before I knew anything, or even made that many sites. Good post, and thanks for sharing!

Sales Training Posted on February 16, 2009 at 12:04 pm

I use Google Ad sense but not expert. Informative site, I am visiting your site first time.

TeasasTips Posted on February 17, 2009 at 3:51 am

I recently got my 1st Google check at the end of January too, and I am working on my second one. Congratulations!

Haiku Posted on February 17, 2009 at 11:04 pm

Absolutely agreed with the post, Now a days people can’t cheat Google as they became more aggressive and they are banning many accounts. It’s really became very difficult to get the clicks unless optimize it properly. When i start initially it takes almost 4months to get first cheque but when i get it i really felt very happy.

Congratulations for getting your first cheque, continue the same way and you can earn more but never try to cheat Google.

I know I know its 103.77 dollars
hehe

Blogging Forums Posted on February 21, 2009 at 12:54 pm

I beg to differ that your first Google AdSense Check is easy to get. I spend months and months developing blogs and websites and get paid maybe 1-2 times a year. The $100 threshold is hard to reach, but with hard work and dedication it can be done. Great Blog! Keep up the good work.

Well,that’s really inspiring:

But to point out, you have to put your heart on your site, so readers will feel how you have put your knowledge on it.

Don’t just blog for money, blog for your readers, and so readers in the end will gave you the “check” above!

Congrats! Earning the first 100 dollars check from Google is no easy task. Micro-niching or sub-niching is the way to go. However, not all niches are profitable. Finding the right niche with traffic and least competition is the key. Can’t wait to see my first check from Google :)

Brian Gomez Posted on March 20, 2009 at 11:51 am

getting a paycheck from google adsense is considered a blessing. It is really bad to cheat on it. Patience is the key to that. Inspiring blog you have there.

Telecom Consultant Posted on April 8, 2009 at 8:48 pm

Ah, how I yearn for the good old days of 2005 when you could slap up a site in a few minutes and be making $5-10 bucks per day within a few weeks. I was making $60-70 a day with some lame ass directory generator sites back then. It was incredibly easy but not so easy now. I have really good sites now and I’m still only back to about $15-20 a day. Traffic is the key, but even with good traffic, people don’t seem to click on ads like they used to. Best not to put all your eggs in one basket on this one.

Making money fast is what we are all looking for and Google adsense is a very popular online business strategy. I get confused easily though since everyone has a different opinion of it. A well researched article like this helps a LOT :)
