Best lot of the Rich – Self made Millionaires

Post Image

No time in history it has been this easy for innovative 1st generation people to become millionaires. No longer it has to be your parents money , Grand father’s business , Mom’s coconut state.

Of course for people like Paris Hilton it helps since she does not posses any talents nor she deserved to be this rich. If you are real serious of becoming wealthy you should know how fortunes are made around the world.

I always have a passion to read about world’s most successful people. How they came to that position and how are they managing to keep up their fortunes. Here is a glimpse of what I gathered so far.

No 01 way to become a millionaire in the list is self-owned businesses. It is entrepreneurship of all kinds, including real estate.74% of self-made millionaires in world, not only in this generation and in this century, but in the last century as well, come from self-owned businesses.

How Wealthy People Start Out

The great majority of wealthy people started businesses and built them from the ground up. In the 19th century, fortunes were built by people like Andrew Carnegie,Thomas Edison, J. P. Morgan and others. In the 20th century, especially in the last few years, businesses and fortunes alike have been built by people like Bill Gates, Warren buffet, Ross Perot and Sam Walton. Each of these people started with nothing and succeeded in building a business from scratch.

The second major source of self-made millionaires in world is senior executives. 10% of the self-made millionaires are men and women who have joined large corporations and worked with those corporations for many years. They rose to positions of seniority, were paid extremely well, given stock options, profit sharing and as a result of holding onto the money, they became millionaires.

So it is not a must for you to start your own business in order to become a millionaire. Lee Iacoca of Chrysler Corporation was paid $26.7 million dollars as a bon in a single year. People who like to study hard , Complete at least 2 degrees, Complete professional exams like CIMA ,get a job and work hard to climb the cooperate ladder can end up being richer than a businessmen.

The third source of self-made millionaires in world are doctors, lawyers and other professionals. Men and women who become very, very good at what they do and rise to the top of their professions are eventually paid, very, very well. The top five percent in every field earn 10 and 20 times as much as the average person in that field.

The fourth major source of self-made millionaires are sales people and sales consultants. Fully five percent of self-made millionaires are men and women who are the top salespeople in their fields. They never started their own businesses. They never went to college or university to get professional degrees. They just became very good salespeople for their products or services and were paid very good money.

The secret was that they then invested the money conservatively and held on to it. So if you think you do not qualify for other categories here is your chance. Be a good sales man. A very good one. Have you ever heard the story of world’s best sales person. He is an auto dealer. An the no 01 Single person responsible for sell most cars in the whole world. I will blog about him in a different post on a later day.
Here are two things you can do to put this information into action as soon as possible:

First, decide what it is that you really enjoy doing and then throw your whole heart into doing it extremely well.

Second, think what you are doing right now going to lead you to financial independence, or do you have to begin making some serious changes in your work and in your life? Whatever your answer is, take action on it immediately.

Recently I stumbled upon an article which has a list of richest people of Sri Lanka. The list starts from 1800’s.

1800’s: Charles Henry de Soysa

1900’s: R.E.W. de Soysa

1910’s: Walter Salgado

1920’s: A.E. de Silva Snr.

1930’s-1940’s: Sir Ernest de Silva

1950’s: Sir Ernest Fernando

1960’s: Sir Cyril de Zoysa

1970’s: Upali Wijewardena

1980’s: U.N. Gunasekera

1990’s: Maharajah, Lalith Kotalawala, Sohli Captain, Anthony Page, H.K. Dharmadasa

2000’s: Harry Jayawardena, Dhammika Perera, Amaleans, Selvanathans

Lets predict the 2010 era. You and me have a chance? Yes. We have. Are we gonna got there? God knows but heck I am not gonna die wondering!!!

Whats interesting about the list published here is how there are great philanthropists among the group. I heard that Sir Ernest de Silva was the greatest philanthropist of the 20th Century and that CH de Soysa was the greatest philanthropist of the 19th Century. Sir Cyril de Zoysa and Mr. U.N. Gunasekera also are known to be huge philanthropists. I guess the lesson we can learn is that if you become rich, you shouldn’t forget to help others and improve their lives.

i have been trying for years to become a self made millionare, my ideas are great and some beyond great but there has always been the lack of money to get them off the ground, i am at a point that i feel that they will die with me. all i am asking is for someone to really sit down with me and hear what i have to say and i know my ideas will generate a spark and we can join forces and put a serious chokehold on business. i hope this message reaches someone who wants to take a chance and build with me
