Advertise Your Web Site With the largest blog network for just $0.02 a click.

Entrecard, a blogging community consists of thousands of blogs have introduced paid advertising for the very first time. Can you see our widget in the sidebar titled, “site of the day”? That is antharjalaya.com’s entrecard widget. Until yesterday only bloggers who has the same widget in their blogs could advertise with other blog sites.

But advertising was not measured in monetary terms. It was measured in terms of EC credits. You can use the EC credits in your account to advertise with other networks. It is hard work to earn lot of EC credits. (Time Consuming.)

Now with Entrecard paid advertising, things have gotten much easier for advertisers. And for just $0.02 a click, you can advertise your web site across the whole Entrecard network. If you are paying for impressions the cost is just $0.30 for 1000 impressions.

This is not a paid post or an affiliate promoting post.

I started a advertising campaign yesterday by upgrading my account with just $10. So far, I have received,

14128 impressions
205 clicks
Cost -$4.1

Other than the traffic I received from adspots, there is another hidden traffic source. When you start an adverting campaign, your banner will be sent across the entire network for approval. Most blog owners check the campaign before approving it to appear in their blogs. So, they visit your web site to make a decision. I have received 400+ unique visitors just through this. But I know this will not last long for obvious reasons. Make hay while the sun shines.

I am very happy with the results I got. My adsense earnings has increased. I see an increase in my average daily RSS subscriptions. Around 30 Entrecard visitors have clicked through to my major sponsor’s sites. There were 2 new conversions yesterday resulting $137 income increase. (Commodity accounts at etoro and domain sales at godaddy.) I do not know whether the leads are as a result of my new visitors but the time will tell if there is a significant increase. But, I guess I can’t complain with 600 new visitors a day.

My only complain is that I cannot set daily budgets and only have limited control over where my ad appears. And I am not sure the mechanisms they have in place to tackle common click fraud. I received quality traffic up to now. I will keep you updated on my latest campaign results.

Update 13/04/2009

Entrecard has increased their prices by double to $0.04 a click. I stopped all the campaigns because I can use Google geo targeting for that price. Once again Entrecard has failed to identify their strengths and weaknesses.

If you still wish to make use of this opportunity, here is the link. ( Not an affiliate link.)

This is a really sweet deal. I know, probably like many others, google adsense is draining me dry. Don’t get me wrong, I love adsense. It got me off the ground when I first started up my business. Nothing like putting in money and getting out paying customers. Like a vending machine, and google knows it. That’s why they can charge what they’re charging for clicks. But this really seems like it could be very effective as well, but at a much, much lower price. I’m gonna give this a try and see what happens.

Yes, I also really like adwords. Sometimes they will cost you more than what you think. I am using geo targeting to get focused low priced clicks. Even then I pay more than $0.05 a click. I never ran adwords for this blog but should try it once to see the conversions.

Eranda,
What do you think about Facebook advertising. Has heard lot of good things especially in demographic targeting. Hasn’t really been able to test considering I am on very tight budget until I start making some money.
Also do you think someone starting out should try advertising or is it better to stick to SEO, social media etc…

This is interesting. I am getting mixed results with Google Adwords and the bill just keeps increasing. I keep thinking optimize, optimize.

eranda Posted on April 8, 2009 at 6:30 pm

@ Charita
The effectiveness of face book advertising will be totally depending on your niche. So you will have to run few campaigns to see whether it gives results for your web site. I personally have tried facebook advertising with few of my other sites and they were okay. Conversions were average and I have mixed feelings about the overall results.

If you do not have much money to spare, stick with SEO and social media for now.

” not a paid post or an affiliate promoting post?”I know you’re not)

@ entrecarddropper,
Some might think the other way :D

Wow, that’s really impressive. I’ve noticed the Entrecard paid advertising and allowed some ads to display on my blog. I never realized how significant the extra traffic could really be. I’ve been looking into paying for advertising recently just to see if it’s even worth it. I might need to look into this. Great post, thanks! :P Keep up the good work.

Eranda, can you clarify what you mean by “I am using geo targeting to get focused low priced clicks”. I know in adwords you can set the maximum CPC at 5 cents but how does using geo targeting (e.g. United states only) help lower your cost per click?

Thanks.
