A beginner’s guide on How to create a blog- Blog Income Proof

This “Beginner’s guide on How to create a blog and make money from blogging.” series is a result of lot of email requests I received from newbie money makers.

I started making over $1000 from this blog withing the first 3 months from it’s launch. I broke in to Alexa top 100,000k web sites list at the same time. Many of my posts went to the front page of popular bookmarking sites even at it’s earliest stage.

So, I know a thing or two about blogging. And making lots and lots of money from it.

Let me first tell you what I am planning to cover in this “How to create a blog and make money blogging series

First I will show you what I am earning from this blog. Just to keep your motivation level high by showing what you can get. Today is 17th of April and what you will later see in this post is only an income report of 2 weeks.

Adsense used to be No 01 Income source for this blog when I first started out. That is the case with any blog and most probably it will be your best earner when you start your blog. But when you start getting loyal readers and a substantial traffic to your web site, affiliate marketing will become your No 01 cash generator.

Let’s see this blog’s performance so far from affiliate marketing this month.

(2 more weeks still left for the month.)

Commission Junction – $707.79

make money blogging

Retail fx partners – $150

make money blogging

Google adsense – 101.02

make money blogging

Miscellaneous Affiliate programs – $72.59
I am promoting 4 other in house affiliate programs through few of the old posts here. Combine income from all those is $72.59

As you can see this blog has earned $1031 for the last 17 days. Not too bad huh? This is nothing compared to what other well established blogs are earning per month.

Take a look at this income report from John Chow.He makes over $40,000 every month from blogging. If you take a look at his blog, you will realize that it is not that difficult to do what he does.

I hope it is clear for you that people (Not me) are making unbelievable amounts of money just by blogging. Can you do the same? Most probably yes. It isn’t easy but it isn’t impossible. If you have the will power and the believe in yourself , sky is the limit in www world.

By the end of this series, you will become a proud owner of a quality money making blog. ( Your blog content is not necessarily be about online money making. Blog about something you are passionate about.) You do not have to pay a single cent to learn all these. Just send me 10% of your first month’s income once you start earning. (Just kidding.)

Let’s start creating your blog.

You will get step by step guidance with illustrations when you follow the above links. You can lay the foundation for your own blog site in less than 15 minutes. If you leave it for tomorrow , you will never do it.

I started my blog as a hobby and earned almost zero Rupees out of it. I’m blogging for about 3 years but only in 2009 I decided to make some money out of my blog. My only income source is Google AdSense and I feel bit guilty to do an affiliate post.

But now I understand that I can’t solely rely on AdSense, I should look out for other available sources to make money such as affiliate products.

In January I earned $10 and in April I’m got $50 from AdSense really exciting. I have a plan of quitting my 9-6.30 job and becoming a full time blogger.

Another stuff, most of my visitors are Sri Lankans. Still you think I can excel in Affiliate marketing??

eranda Posted on April 18, 2009 at 1:40 pm

@ Mayooresan,
If you do not feel comfortable writing affiliate posts, put some banners in the side bar. But if your promoting a good product you do not have to worry. Your visitors will not leave you. That is why it is very important to find good products to promote.

Adsense is a good way to earn money but some of my affiliate clicks generate over $100 per one click. You cannot expect that from adsense.

Do not worry about that fact that your visitors are from Sri Lanka. There are enough programs which cater to a worldwide audience. I have seen you run Google adwords to promote your web site. If you are Geographically targeting Sri Lankans, Add some more locations. People here are still reluctant to make a purchase online.

mayooresan Posted on April 18, 2009 at 5:16 pm

@Eranda
thankz for da advice. Yeap I targeted Sri Lankan Audience in Google Adwords, It’s a good idea I must expand my presence to other global markets too.

Anyway thanks again for the quick response.

This is great! Looking forward to subsequent posts about this subject. :)

Musab Posted on April 19, 2009 at 12:54 am

100 buck for one click?! WoW I just don’t believe it. Out of mere curiosity could you tell me how much traffic do you get per month? Refferel and organic? I would love to earn 1000+ bucks per month.

By the way I don’t see any Adsense ads on your blog? but here you mentioned that you have earned $100 from adsense. Don’t get it?

eranda Posted on April 19, 2009 at 1:33 am

@ Musab,
$100 per one click means if that click converts to a lead it will generate $100. But an adsense click will hardly generate more than $3.
I do not put adsense units in all my posts. But if you care to look around, you will find plenty of adsense units here.

Musab Posted on April 19, 2009 at 2:23 am

Frankly speaking, I am really impressed by your results! Really, I want to make good bucks out of these sites. Would you care to teach me how to do it?

Tiptopcat Posted on April 19, 2009 at 5:58 am

Hi there,

Greetings from London, UK
I am intrigued to find out how you have been able to earn so much in adsense in such a short amount of time.

I look forward to reading and learning more.

Many Thanks

Bryan Posted on April 19, 2009 at 11:32 pm

These are awesome tips and a great guide for the noob and even seasoned marketer who wants to start a blog. Blogging can be tough but if done right, you can make real money like you have. Congrats on your earnings too!

gilbert Posted on April 20, 2009 at 11:19 pm

wow gaining that kind of amount in an adsense?thats’ great..Before i was done blogging also but i just only have more or less $1 a days…after a while i created another blog and put some banners on my blog but they did not approve it it i don’t know why..

goodtherapy.org Posted on April 23, 2009 at 10:26 pm

Thats a great tip. I have a blog with PR3, during first few months of its inception,i really earned a good amount of money from it but one day my account was disabled,i really tried too hard to get my account reinstated but Google did not responded me. From that time i really never gave a second thought of setting another google adsense account.

gilbert Posted on April 24, 2009 at 4:07 am

@goodtherapy.org we have the same experience…my blog account was also disable…I tried also contacting google that time but never responded and I never retrieve my account anymore…I tried creating new blogs and sign.up for adsense but they never approve my application..don’t know why…i receive email from adsense that my address is invalid…but that’s the address i used in my first application…

Rick Posted on April 24, 2009 at 8:21 pm

Is that income from this blog alone or is it for all your sites combined?

Really like your blog, keep it up.
Regards
Rick

eranda Posted on April 24, 2009 at 8:38 pm

@ Rick,
Yes, I run the above offers only through this web site. Most of my other web sites are selling my own products. I do have a seperate web site to promote retalfx but I was using a different id during this period.

@ gilbert,
No wonder they say it is a invalid address since your address has been banned from the adsense system.

gilbert Posted on April 24, 2009 at 11:41 pm

@eranda no i used it in my first blog that I made and it has been approved and i receive mail from google enclosed to it is my pin before it was banned….but on the second time i made another blog my address now is invalid so what would be the explanation for this?…

Bob Sloan Posted on April 25, 2009 at 1:37 am

Great initiative. I have seen articles about writing blogs but never a 10 article series about this issue…. can´t wait for more :)

Rick Posted on April 27, 2009 at 4:38 pm

May I ask how many daily visitors you have on this blog?

Adam Railing Posted on April 28, 2009 at 7:12 am

Very informative, thanks for sharing.

CPA Arbitrage Posted on April 29, 2009 at 5:47 am

Making money with Adsense it’s becoming harder and harder. Couple of years ago, Adsense program was really hot

Nowdays, affiliate earnings are much more rewarding. More and more publishers go into CPA networks everyday. Adsense is paying penny per clicks .. Too bad .. I actually enjoyed it while it lasted.

[...] I warmly welcome you to my blog. I hope you will enjoy your first visit. If you like what you are seeing, I invite you to subscribe to my RSS feed. This is the part 02 of our ” Beginner’s guide to create a blog and make money blogging” series. DigitalSlump Posted on May 4, 2009 at 6:18 am

CPA Arbitrage, I agree with you. Its becoming very heard to do anything with Adsense. I use some affiliate sites and you are right, much more rewarding. I am looking for other ways to capitalize from blogs using affiliate programs.

To the writer of the artile, its impressive that you are earning that much with the program. Good luck. Hope it stays that way for you.

Great info! I’ve had some good results with adsense for niche info sites but I’m inspired by your great success with affiliate ads. Is there a particular reason why you chose CJ over other affiliate networks such as Clickbank? Do you feel affliate ads more suited to blogs than info sites? Cheers.

You need a lot of high PR websites to do some profits with AdSenses.. Some time ago , it was way more easy to do money using AdSense
