[ad#co-2]I was putting up some banner ads the other day which I got from market leverage and pepperjam.

After adding the code I tried to preview the banners to see whether they blend with my pages. To my disappointment it was an utter mess. Only a blank space showed up, but when I click on this blank space it re- directed to the affiliate page somehow.

I used to add some CJ affiliate links to my product web sites months ago and they could be integrated without any problems. So, I was really disappointed about the situation and I thought it must be a problem with the theme.

When I had time I spent hours in forums and related web sites to find out what the problem is. Why my banner ads are not showing up? It was “Kerosene” from Sitepoint who advised me to view my web site through “browsrcamp.com”. And to my surprise all my banner ads were clearly visible there. By the way, using brwsrcamp is a very good way to test the compatibility of your web design with Mac OS X browsers. Later on I found out that my recently purchased Kaspersky anti virus guard is the one responsible for blocking banners coming from affiliate network URL’s in my PC. Which made me realize, Most of the web surfers now days use kapersky or another powerful virus guard to protect themselves against malicious viruses.

It certainly gives user a good surfing experience but to poor affiliates who are trying to make some money using commission junction, pepperjam ,Linkshare ,Market Leverage and most of the other advertising networks it gives nightmares. (Click bank banners shows up just fine with kaspersky.) What is the point of using a banner ad if it cannot reach at least 50% the site visitors. As you know it is not easy getting traffic these days to web sites. And adsense is not what it used to be 3 years back. Most visitors now days are adsense blind. And only hope for most site owners these days is the square shape banner ads like 125*125 or 250*250 if they are to recover the hosting fees and make a decent living.

I am not talking about the big shot blog owners or other web sites which can opt for private ad selling. 70% of the web sites out their Do not have the ability to engage in private ad selling. Even if they do ,it has to be for ridiculously low prices.

Since we cannot ask our visitors to turn off their virus guards while visiting our web site, a good practice would be to put text links more often than using banners. after doing little pre-sale using the “click here to….” phrase still gives wonderful feed back in terms of conversions. If you insist using banners make sure to put a text link near by like I have done in my “share market suckz” post. That post is the one giving me amazing conversions and I realize using the text link plays a major part of that. And always remember to get the best use of alternative text tag. If your banner image does not show up ,the visitors will see your alternate text so make sure to use a catchy phrase to get more attraction.

Or else, You can download the banner image and host it in your own server. If you use your server image URL instead of the image link given with the affiliate code, Then the banner will show up without any problems. The down side here is, in your affiliate manager area it will not record any impressions. Only the number of clicks will be recorded. If you are using this method contact the affiliate network customer care and let them know you are using your own banner. Otherwise they will not know how you are getting clicks without impressions, unless someone from the network manually visit your site and check the set up.

There is one more thing I should add if you are a newbie affiliate marketer. Yes, Affiliate marketing has its own advantages. But for me, Most money come from my own product selling s. (No, I don’t sell e-books and not planning to do either..). As an affiliate, if you find a good niche where you get few good conversions, it is always better to develop a similar product and try to sell it. You will not believe how cheap you can get things developed at elance.

Selling t-shirts is a very profitable business if done correctly.[ad#ad-16]I have an off line clothing store, so I know how profitable this can be. Not everyone have the required capital, facilities, supplier connections, skills to operate a t-shirt business off line. Good thing is there are number of vendors who can help you run an profitable online t-shirt store.

No need to buy stocks, No need to involve in packaging, shipping, and customer care, all you have to do is set up the store, Drive some traffic, and cash a nice fat check at the end of the month. Your vendor will do all the hard work for you.

All that said, I do not want you to think this is a piece of cake. After seeing all the money making guru’s sales pitches all over Internet You might think making money online is easy. Yes, It is possible but believe me it is not easy. I still make more money off line than I earn from Internet. So proceed with the reading if you are willing to do some real work. Give it 4 Days to set up everything correctly and 45 minutes everyday to traffic building for 3 months and after that may be 15-20 minutes each day Until you are too rich to work any more. As a start join with T-shirt affiliates you like. You can do a Google search and find many vendors or else go to your favorite affiliate network and join few companies.

I have listed few good one’s here for yourconvenience.

1. Busted Tees
I like busted tees because they offer lot of ways to promote their t-shirts. For example they support people who do not like to go through the trouble of running a website or a blog. People who are not in the internet marketing or money making industry can still earn money with them. They have this face book application called "t-shirt money maker". All you have to do is add that application to your profile. If one of your friend sees these very attractive t-shirts and ends up buying few you will be credited $5 for each t-shirt they buy. And that is not all. If your friends install the application from your profile, you get $1 for each shirt they sell, too!

They work with commission junction. so you will be redirected to CJ to proceed with the application. My application was approved within 24 hours . And it was a smooth ride from their onwards. I do not use this facebook application since most of my friends are from Sri Lanka. (Chances of they buy something online is NILL) But I have set up few lenses to drive traffic to my affiliate store and I am doing well with them at the moment.

2. DeezTeez

The next t-shirt store I like is DeezTeez. They have this ready made store which you can add it to your website within few minutes. Work here is minimal. They have gone the extra step to do the set up work for you. Their slogan is "funny t-shirts with an attitude". I like that. They pay $6 per each t-shirt you sold via your online store. And they also have links to be added to your "MySpace" profile if you find it difficult to run your online store under your own domain.

3. Skrewgear.

The final t-shirt store I am recommending is skrewgear. I am not an affiliate with them since I am doing well with the previous two programs. And I do not have much time these days to test new programs because of the blog. These guys have very naughty t-shirts.

Though I am not an affiliate I have purchased few T-shirts from them last month. And they are soooo hot and awesome. Even If you are not in to this business, I highly recommend you to go and have a look at their t-shirt store. If you do decide to partner with them for your own t-shirt business they will pay you 15% all sales referred by you.

I do not like to put their links here since I gain nothing out of it except giving few one way links out of my site. So if you wish to participate in their programs do a Google search for bustedTees , DeezTeez and skrewgear. Look for the affiliate link when you are in the web site and sign up for the program.

It will be a straight forward work for webmasters to add the store and start earning money. But for the total newbie, I will explain how to build up your store, Drive traffic, and all importantly how to make your first sale.

I repeat, You can earn lot of money by selling t-shirts online. And it does not require a capital, stock or a store. This is a very profitable business.
